In my hotel I plan to have two double flow rider's which will allow all year round surfing for the hotel guests and members of the public.

Design Development

Moving Forward with the Design.

A catchup with the progression of the design throughout the weeks so far.

Thinking about how the ground floor would work within the hotel.

Begining to explore with different orientations on the site to bennifit the views.

Thinking about the walk throughs within the hotel and linking this to the site.

Beginning to create a design which walks through the site and links the different parts of the buildings together. Creating a variety of court yards.

Thinking more indepth with the arrangement of the buildings.

Further Development of the movement of the buildings

Thinking about the positioning of the surf machines on the site.

Developing the design with moving the surf machines into the hotel and beginning to link them together.

The beginning of the Hotel Bedroom designs.

Developing the Bedrooms, a basic double room.

A single bedroom with ensuite.

Double bedroom, with terrace, ensuite, desk and storage.

Double bedroom, with the movement of the ensuite.

A more developed double bedroom, with private areas, lounge, bedroom and ensuite.

Thinking about the floor construction for the build, Steel Ibeam, Think insulation, Concrete floor slabs.

Wall construction for the hotel. Block work, Steel, Insulation, Concrete floor slab.

Quick Model of the new design with both the surf school and hotel merged into one building.

Flowrider machine model, giving me a 3D example of the machine to see how it looks like within the hotel. Card and blue vinyl.

The Flowrider inside the 'Surf Pod' design. The surf pod design is to contain the noise and the water from surfing.

A new model on site showing the context of the building. Card, plastersine, model trees.

Close up shot of the model.

Further Developmental Drawings For the Hotel and surf School Scheme.

Here are more drawings which show the development movement forward with designing the hotel and surf school.  These drawings are mainly done on trace and drawn repeatedly over one another with each design changing each time.  The idea of this is to develop the design and produce a solution that works well and completes the brief.

Drawing one. Showing the landscape and the hotel with the surf machines inside. 1:1250 drawing. traced over a site plan to draw the landscape with the hotel design.

Drawing two. Changing the landscaping which links to the hotel building, the idea is to connect the chine with the hotel and re create more green spaces in Bournemouth.

Drawing Three.  Development of the second drawing, with the landscape changing and the including of a new walkway to the Pier from the hotel surf school.

Drawing Four, small PART I drawings developing the surf school and hotel ground floor.

Few drawings, which show more detailed development of the connection between the surf school and the hotel entrance. Drawn on trace over site plan at 1:500.

More developed detail drawings improving the connection between the surf school Flowriders and the hotel foyer.

PART I drawings which include the landscape, trying to identify a connection between the building and the landscaping around.

Sketch Drawing which shows the landscape in colour and the pool areas of the hotel.

PART I drawings showing Landscape development

First PART I drawing showing the Current Bournemouth Gardens (dark green) and the extended gardens which I carried throughout the site (light green)

PART I drawing two. The landscape garden areas have become larger and less clustered.

PART I drawing three. The landscape has become mixed with lots of creative walkways which is separated by the grass areas.

PART I drawing four. Larger grass areas with a central walkway through the middle with pathways leading of it.

PART I drawing five. More clustered green spaces with numerous walkways throughout.

PART I drawing six.  Following the chine with the extension of it and bringing this into the new green space on the site.

PART I drawing seven.  A larger extension of the chine which ends half way up the site.

Further Drawings showing development

Quick plan idea and section drawing showing a process idea of the hotel and surf school.

More detailed plan of the earlier model showing the ground floor plan, showing where the surf machines are and the different entrance points along with the landscaping.

A quick section showing my idea of the surf machines and the hotel rooms above.

A quick idea sketch on how the corridor space could look like linking the rooms.

A more developed and detail sketch showing the improved hotel design linking to the landscape outside. In the landscape there are small pods which people can sit and gather inside.

An idea for walkway walls which could be included in the landscape and link the hotel and surf school as one. The walls would have holes in for viewing through and also display pictures, these would be about the history of surf and surfing images from the hotel surf school.
